Seagoville residents cast their ballots in the May 2, 2026 city election, deciding three council seats, with one race heading to a June runoff.
In the Place 1 race, no candidate cleared 50 percent of the vote in the initial election. Rick Howard led the field with 202 votes, or 36.93 percent, followed by Lisa Niedermeier with 186 votes, or 34.00 percent, and Edward G. Rasmussen with 159 votes, or 29.07 percent. Since no one secured a majority, Howard and Niedermeier advanced to a June runoff election. Howard went on to win the runoff and will represent Place 1.
The Place 3 race was decided outright on May 2. Harold Magill won with 325 votes, or 59.96 percent, defeating Philip Pelayo, who received 217 votes, or 40.04 percent.
In the Place 5 race, Jon Epps was also elected outright, earning 333 votes, or 60.88 percent, over Harvey D. Johnson, who received 214 votes, or 39.12 percent.
The May 2 results were certified as unofficial by Sara Egan, Seagoville City Secretary, and posted at 7:25 p.m. that evening. Updated and official results are published by Dallas County at dallascountyvotes.org and by Kaufman County at kaufmancounty.net/237/Elections.
