Merv Moore is in serious negotiations with a Dallas-area buyer but hopes a local entrepreneur will step forward before an agreement is finalized.

SEAGOVILLE – Shop in Seagoville founder Merv Moore has put the community news website up for sale, opening a limited window for a local entrepreneur to take ownership of a publication with more than 1,300 articles covering Seagoville, Crandall and Combine.

Moore, a Seagoville native, has undertaken serious negotiations already underway with a Dallas-area media agency. His preference, however, is to sell the website to someone with local roots who recognizes its potential as both a community resource and a business.

The proposed sale would mark a transition for Moore, who plans to move from ownership and daily management into part-time freelance writing.

An Established Foundation for a New Owner

A buyer would take over a website with an extensive archive of local reporting, community features and business coverage.

According to Moore, Shop in Seagoville has published more than 1,300 articles, with content discoverable through Google Search and shared through Facebook.

That existing body of work gives a new owner a foundation to build upon, along with opportunities to reach English- and Spanish-speaking residents throughout the coverage area.

For a local entrepreneur, the acquisition could also provide a platform for incorporating an existing business brand into the website’s marketing and advertising offerings.

The publication’s community coverage creates opportunities to introduce residents to local products, services and businesses while continuing to develop its readership.

The website’s bilingual content offers another avenue for an owner interested in serving the area’s diverse households and business community.

A Local Ownership Opportunity With Limited Time

Although discussions with the Dallas-area buyer are advancing, Moore wants local entrepreneurs to have an opportunity to express interest before a sale is completed.

According to Moore, the prospective Dallas buyer would make significant changes to the website. A local purchase would offer another path for the publication’s next chapter, with ownership based in the communities it covers.

No sale has been finalized, and Moore has not announced a public asking price or a firm deadline for inquiries. However, he emphasized that the opportunity for a local buyer to enter discussions is limited as negotiations continue.

Entrepreneurs interested in learning more should contact Moore promptly to discuss the website and potential ownership.

For ownership inquiries: Email merv@shopinseagoville.com or call (972) 213-0087, Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Central Time.
