Seagoville City Councilmember Jon Epps has built a reputation as one of the community’s most visible and approachable elected officials, frequently showing up for local causes, schools, public safety efforts, and community events.
Epps recently took an active role in supporting the Seagoville Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association’s SEAGOVILLE PROUD T shirt sale, joining volunteers at Charleys Cheesesteaks and lending his support to an organization that works closely with local law enforcement.
He also helped bring forward School Spirit and Excellence Week, proclaimed for August 24 through 31, giving Seagoville an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of students, teachers, staff and families across the city’s public schools.
His community involvement extends well beyond City Hall. Epps is also a member of the Hella Clowns, participating in activities such as the Ennis Polka Festival and bringing a much different side of his personality to community events.
That combination of public service and accessibility has made an impression.
“I have seen a lot of Seagoville city councilors over the past four decades, and I doubt any of them was more popular than Jon Epps,” said Shop in Seagoville editor Merv Moore.
Epps has consistently emphasized listening to residents, supporting law enforcement and keeping Seagoville’s roads, utilities and public services prepared for continued growth.
For Epps, public service appears to be about more than taking a seat at the council table. Whether he is supporting police volunteers, recognizing local schools or clowning around at a parade, he continues to make himself a visible part of the community he represents.
