The Dragons return enough offensive experience to contend for another playoff berth, but they must rebuild much of the defense and settle the quarterback position before the schedule turns difficult.
Seagoville opens with two non district games before an eight game league schedule that includes defending state champion South Oak Cliff and newcomer Mesquite Poteet.

A 1-9 record makes this look like an easy opener, but Palestine’s 2025 roster was unusually young, with only three seniors on the entire squad. That means the Wildcats could return far more of last season’s team than a typical one win program, even without individual statistics available to identify specific playmakers. Seagoville should still be favored on the road, but the Dragons cannot assume Palestine looks the same as its record suggests.
Bryan Adams

That drop off in proven firepower works in Seagoville’s favor. The home opener gives the Dragons’ coaching staff a clearer look at how quarterback snaps will be distributed before Poteet arrives the following week.
Mesquite Poteet

Seagoville gets the district opener at home, but a rebuilt Dragons defense facing that group in its first real test gives Poteet the preseason edge.
Adamson

Adamson’s leading rusher and starting quarterback from 2025, Kameron White and Adrian Mendez, were both seniors and will not return. The bigger risk for Seagoville remains scheduling rather than talent, since this game follows an emotional district opener against Poteet.
Jefferson

This may be the toughest call on the schedule. The meeting moves to Samuell this time, and the difference could come down to whether Seagoville’s defense can find stops against an improving opponent on the road.
South Oak Cliff

South Oak Cliff remains the district favorite and returns the reigning Offensive MVP behind two first team linemen, with Udom and Smith anchoring one of the area’s best defenses. The Dragons’ realistic goal is making this matchup far more competitive than last year’s shutout, even with the Golden Bears again the clear preseason choice.
Hillcrest
2025 record: 6-5, playoff berth • Hillcrest won 29-14 in 2025

This is where Seagoville’s season could turn. Hillcrest beat the Dragons last season and is again projected close to Seagoville in the standings, with the district’s two major outlets splitting on which team should be favored. Stevens Braziel gives the Panthers a proven piece in the secondary, but Seagoville has enough returning offensive experience to reverse last year’s result on the road.
Wilson
Wilson won 34-27 in 2025 • Projected 4th in District 5-5A Division II

Wilson already beat Seagoville once, and Kirkland, Ramirez, Holbrook, and Redmond give the Wildcats a proven offensive core that returns largely intact. Seagoville gets the rematch at home, and by late October a rebuilt Dragons defense should be far more settled than it was in September, which is why this game is the pick to flip.
Molina
2025 record: 0-10 • Projected ahead of Adamson and Jefferson

Molina’s leading receiver from 2025, Kingston Chavez, is not on the Jaguars’ confirmed 2026 roster, but Pina, Cervantes, and Delaney give Molina a legitimate returning nucleus on offense. A playoff berth could be hanging in the balance by the time Seagoville reaches its regular season finale, which makes Molina dangerous regardless of preseason projections. Seagoville should still have the better roster on paper, but the Dragons cannot treat this as a formality.
Final Prediction: 7-3 Overall, 5-3 District
A 7-3 finish would mean Seagoville outperforms both major preseason projections without needing to beat South Oak Cliff, Poteet, or Samuell. What it does require is taking care of every game the Dragons should win and turning last year’s losses to Hillcrest and Wilson into victories.
