Shop in Seagoville has officially launched Classroom Connection, a new academic focused initiative built to spotlight local students, teachers, faculty, and schools across the Seagoville and Crandall communities. This project will feature a variety of programs highlighting local academic achievements.
Classroom Wish Lists
The first major program under the Classroom Connection umbrella, Classroom Wish Lists, is free for local teachers and is designed to make it easy for the community to identify a real, specific classroom need and choose how to help. The program gives educators a simple, direct way to share classroom needs with residents, parents, and local businesses who want to help.
According to Shop in Seagoville, the platform is the connector, not the middleman, for the program. The local news and information website does not collect donations, receive money, or take possession of any donated merchandise. Instead, Shop in Seagoville publishes and promotes classroom wish lists submitted directly by teachers.
Teachers do not need to already have an online wish list to take part. Educators who already maintain an Amazon, Walmart, Target, DonorsChoose, or other classroom wish list may simply submit that link. Teachers without one can tell Shop in Seagoville directly what their classroom needs.
How Classroom Wish Lists Works
Shop in Seagoville outlines the program in three steps. First, local educators tell the platform what their classroom needs and how the materials will help students. Second, residents, parents, and local businesses browse the submitted classroom requests and choose a need they would like to support. Third, donors purchase the requested supplies and follow the receiving school’s procedures for delivering the contribution.
Requests submitted through Classroom Wish Lists can cover a wide range of categories, including classroom supplies, books and educational materials, art and creative supplies, STEM and science materials, headphones and technology accessories, organizational materials, and other student learning resources.
16 Area Campuses Taking Part
Classroom Connection is accepting requests from educators across 16 area school campuses spanning two districts.
Seagoville Area, Dallas ISD (7 campuses): Seagoville High School, Seagoville Middle School, Seagoville Elementary School, Seagoville North Elementary School, Central Elementary School, Kleberg Elementary School, and Ebby Halliday Elementary School.
Crandall ISD (9 campuses): Crandall High School, Central Middle School, Heartland Middle School, Barbara Walker Elementary, Hollis T. Dietz Elementary, Noble Reed Elementary, Nola Kathryn Wilson Elementary, Opal Smith Elementary, and W.A. Martin Elementary.
Wish lists are now open for teachers at all 16 participating campuses.
How Residents and Local Businesses Can Help
Shop in Seagoville notes that supporters do not need to fund an entire classroom to make an impact. A single box of supplies, a set of books, or a handful of requested items can meet a real classroom need. Local residents are invited to browse participating classrooms and choose something a teacher has requested, while local businesses are encouraged to adopt a classroom need or help fulfill a larger request as a direct investment in local students.
Program Details and Donor Guidelines
Shop in Seagoville states that Classroom Connection is a free community information service and that it does not collect, process, or receive monetary or merchandise donations through the program. All classroom requests are submitted by local educators and published so community members can connect directly with classroom needs.
According to the program’s official guidelines, donations must comply with the policies and procedures of the receiving school and school district, and donors should follow campus instructions for delivery when appropriate. Shop in Seagoville also notes that it does not represent or act on behalf of any participating school or school district, and contributions should not be assumed to be tax deductible unless appropriate documentation is provided by an eligible organization.
Teachers interested in participating are asked to submit requests using their official school email address whenever possible. Local residents and businesses can visit the Classroom Connection page at Shop in Seagoville to browse open classroom wish lists once they go live tomorrow.
